Very interesting presentation that combines perspectives from audiology and neurophysiology. Thought-provoking information concerning neuroplasticity that adds depth to our understanding of what we are doing clinically. Further, generates questions concerning what more we could be doing as clinicians to better assess maturation and functioning in the auditory pathways.

I wish I could have known this information 20 years ago when dealing with elderly patients with poor speech recognition, and those who insisted they had "nerve deafness", to try to get them to use the hearing aids longer rather than rejecting them immediately. Of course it would have also been nice if we had 6 month HA trial periods.

I find the topic of neuroplasticity to be so interesting. It was a little mindblowing to me to learn how there are different CAEP measures that can be used to fit hearing technology that don't rely on behavioral responses. This will be so beneficial to many children with comorbidities that make fitting technology a challenge.

I’m an SLP of 20+ years, a Cert AVT of 14 years and an executive function specialist who happens to have a mild sloping moderate unaided SNHL and poor executive function skills, terrible listening in noise, and poor visual working memory. This was the most mind-blowing research I’ve laid my eyes on in years. And now I want to be aided because I can see the effects cognitively far more than acoustically now. Thank you!
