Course created on June 5, 2017
Gail Takahashi received her Ph.D. in Audiology from the University of Iowa in 1990 and has served as Chief of Audiology and Speech Pathology Service in the Iowa City VA Health Care System since 2002. Dr. Takahashi has been involved with teleaudiology since 2008, and is a member of several VA telehealth groups. She participated in the original VA teleaudiology pilot and has helped develop training materials for the field. The Iowa City VA Health Care System provides hearing evaluations and hearing aid fittings and adjustments via telehealth. VTEL and Lync connections are made between the medical center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), between CBOCs, and between the medical center and a mobile audiology clinic.
