Ok, so maybe it doesn’t have quite the same ring as ‘football’, but we have an amazing fall course line up here on AudiologyOnline that I would like to share with you.
Up the Middle
This month’s guest on 20Q is Dr. Lisa Hunter. She joins our question man to answer some basic questions about acoustic immittance best practices, such as how to classify tympanograms and how to report acoustic reflex results, as well as to talk about the new 3D wideband generation. This insightful review of our old diagnostic friend may actually have you re-examining your clinical processes and changing them up a bit. Thanks to Dr. Mueller and Dr. Hunter for this great resource, 20Q with Gus Mueller: Acoustic Immittance - What Still Works & What's New.
Back to Basics
Dr. Maureen Valente has put together an excellent Back to Basics webinar series for us this fall. Dr. Valente and all of the presenters in this series are passionate about teaching as evidenced by their academic careers, publications and numerous contributions to the profession. We are honored to have them leading us as we take a renewed look at why we do what we do, to help ensure that both new and experienced clinicians are working from a solid foundation. More information and links to register for one or more courses in this series can be found here.
Individual Differences in Aided Variability
"My friend loves his hearing aid, so I want to get the same one”.
"My friend hates her hearing aids, so I don’t want to try that brand/model.”
How many times have you heard these words? We try and explain to our patients that there are many individual factors that lead to hearing aid success, but just what does the evidence have to say? We are excited to announce a partnership with the prestigious journal Seminars in Hearing to explore this topic during a week-long virtual conference, November 18-22, 2013. Thanks to Guest Editor Dr. Jason Galster for organizing this great event that will include presentations from Drs. David Eddins, Josh Alexander, Terry Chisholm, Harvey Abrams, Erin Picou, and one from Jason himself. Stay tuned for details.
Industry Updates
Be sure to check out our News and Interviews for the latest from industry, including a talk with ReSound about hearing aid battery life.
