Share:

Brisbane is the host city for the International Society of Audiology’s (ISA) XXXII World Congress of Audiology, May 3 - 7, 2014 – an event that brings together the world’s leading hearing health professionals to discuss the latest clinical and technological developments in hearing science, audiological research and clinical services.

Hosted on behalf of ISA by its affiliated associations, Audiology Australia and Australia’s HEARing Cooperative Research Centre (HEARing CRC), the Congress program will feature a range of presentations on key topics including:

  • Hearing health issues associated with occupational and lifestyle noise exposure;
  • Neural plasticity and managing hearing loss in older adults;
  • Strategic and sustainable solutions for addressing global hearing loss;
  • World Health Organisation audiology initiatives; and
  • The future of hearing healthcare.

The Congress provides a unique forum for hearing scientists, audiologists, physicians, speech pathologists, habilitationists, early-intervention educators, hearing scientists, hearing clinic representatives, audiometrists and consumer advocates from across the globe to meet, exchange ideas and gain new hearing health knowledge.

ISA and Congress President A/Professor Robert Cowan said this was only the second occasion that the World Congress had been hosted in Australia.

“We want the Congress to provide a forum for exchanging ideas and discussing new evidence and approaches in the detection and management of hearing loss – a condition experienced by more than 5% of the world’s population,” A/Prof Cowan said.
