Meet 12 Remarkable People Who Are Changing Perceptions of What It Means to Have Hearing Loss
SOMERSET, NJ October 5 – Voting is now open for the 2020 Oticon Focus on People Awards at www.Oticon.com/FOP. People are invited to cast their votes for the 12 finalists who represent the "best of the best" from this year's nominations in each of four categories – Student, Adult, Advocacy and Practitioner. The total number of votes received by each finalist will help to determine who will be the first, second and third place winners in each category.
This is the 22nd year that the Oticon Focus on People Awards has honored hearing impaired students, adults and advocacy volunteers who have shown through their accomplishments that hearing loss does not limit a person’s ability to make a positive difference in the world. By spotlighting people with hearing loss and their contributions, Oticon aims to change outdated stereotypes that discourage people from seeking professional help for their hearing loss.
“By empowering people to add their voices to the selection of the winners, we expand awareness of the program and inspire people with the remarkable stories of our finalists,” says Nancy Palmere, Director of Consumer Marketing and Public Relations who heads the awards program. “The unique stories of this year’s finalists compellingly demonstrate how life-changing technology can enable people with hearing loss to contribute in ways well beyond what many thought possible.”
