The Vanderbilt Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences will host its 18th annual Hearing Aid Hands-On Workshop October 4 - 6, 2012 at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center in Nashville, TN. This three-day event covers all aspects of hearing aid selection, fitting and verification. Drs. Gus Mueller, Todd Ricketts and other Vandy faculty will provide lively discussions and interactive, hands-on training on the latest technology, processing algorithms and instrumentation. Topics include selection and fitting of the newest advanced features such as wireless technology and frequency compression;patient fitting considerations such as speech testing, dead regions and cognitive issues;the use of Baha, open canal devices and other special fittings;and much more. This workshop features hands-on activities using the fitting software from leading manufacturers as well as the new DSL and NAL fitting algorithms, while driving different models of probe-microphone equipment and conducting speech mapping applications. This workshop is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn best practices from leading experts in a small, dynamic group setting.
