The Vanderbilt Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences will host its 18th annual Hearing Aid Hands-On Workshop October 4 - 6, 2012 at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center in Nashville, TN. This three-day event covers all aspects of hearing aid selection, fitting and verification. Drs. Gus Mueller, Todd Ricketts and other Vandy faculty will provide lively discussions and interactive, hands-on training on the latest technology, processing algorithms and instrumentation. Topics include selection and fitting of the newest advanced features such as wireless technology and frequency compression;patient fitting considerations such as speech testing, dead regions and cognitive issues;the use of Baha, open canal devices and other special fittings;and much more. This workshop features hands-on activities using the fitting software from leading manufacturers as well as the new DSL and NAL fitting algorithms, while driving different models of probe-microphone equipment and conducting speech mapping applications. This workshop is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn best practices from leading experts in a small, dynamic group setting. There will also be ample time to enjoy the wonderful sites and sounds of Music City in the evenings with other conference participants and your notable Vandy tour guides.
