Vanderbilt Announces Second Biennial Modern Developments in Audiology Conference to be Held May 15 - May 16, 2009

The Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center for Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences has announced that its Second Biennial Modern Developments in Audiology conference will be held May 15 - May 16th, 2009 at the Center in Nashville, TN.

The objective of the conference is to ensure that audiologists learn the latest diagnostic and rehabilitative techniques and become familiar with the newest technological advances. The conference covers a broad range of current audiology research and its practical applications, including the following topics: visual and tactile influences on auditory processes, development and plasticity of the auditory cortex, lateral asymmetry in the human auditory system, assessment and management of pediatric auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder, outcomes of intervention for children with hearing loss, children with hearing loss and multiple disabilities, chronic subjective dizziness: a new clinical entity, undiagnosed vestibular system impairment in falls risk patients, hearing loss and listening effort, hearing aid marketing, open canal hearing aids, and selection and verification of hearing aid gain and output. 1.2 CEUs (Intermediate, Professional area) are pending from AAA and ASHA.

Conference faculty includes guest keynote speaker Yvonne S. Sininger, Ph.D., joined by the Vanderbilt Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences faculty William W. Dickinson, Linda J. Hood, Benjamin W. Y. Hornsby, Gary P. Jacobson, Devin L. McCaslin, Gus Mueller, Daniel Polley, Todd A. Ricketts, Anne Marie Tharpe, and Mark Wallace.
