Employees Give Unitron High Marks for Corporate and Social Responsibility.
February 8th, 2012 - Kitchener, Canada - Unitron announced today it has been once again named as one of Canada's top 50 Small & Medium Employers. This is the third year the company has been included on the list.
The competitive study by Queen's School of Business, Queen's Centre for Business Venturing and Aon Hewitt published today in PROFIT magazine, rates employers based on input from their own employees. The survey attracts participation from public and private companies with 50 to 399 employees spanning all major industries and regions.
"We are thrilled to once again be named as one of Canada's 50 Best Small & Medium Employers. It is a terrific reflection of the spirit of the people who work at Unitron and the culture we collectively foster," says Jan Metzdorff, President, Unitron. "We have the great privilege to work on products and technologies that make a real difference in lives of people with hearing loss. The highly personal nature of what we do gives our employees a shared purpose and common goal, which we see reflected in our survey results and in our ranking as a top 50 employer."
Unitron employs 175 people at its global and Canadian headquarters, located in Waterloo Region, Canada's "Silicon Valley." More than 30 percent of Unitron employees have been with the company for over 10 years, and the company draws talented individuals from as many as 18 different countries. Unitron's global organization is one of the fastest-growing hearing healthcare companies in the industry with 19 national operations and distribution in more than 60 countries.
The best small & medium size ranking is calculated based on a survey instrument that leverages Aon Hewitt's Engagement Model™. This model identifies 21 key drivers for employee engagement that account for 85 percent of the factors influencing employee perceptions of their work experience including people, work/motivation, opportunities, procedures, total rewards and quality of life/values, including corporate and social responsibility - an area of focus for Unitron over the last two years.
"In this year's survey, Unitron employees ranked our company's corporate and social responsibility efforts extremely high. We believe this is a reflection of the charitable work led by our employees through the Unitron Community Connection (UCC). Through the UCC Unitron has donated thousands of hearing aids to children with hearing loss around the world and raised more than $100,000 to provide hearing dog guides through the Lions Foundation of Canada. " says Sue Delooze, Human Resources Manager, Unitron. This caring spirit characterizes our employee culture at Unitron and shines through in our survey results."
