Unitron and Hearing Healthcare Professionals Embrace a Vision for Industry Change

Engage US empowers hearing healthcare practitioners to create patient advocates and grow their practice.

June 13, 2016 – Plymouth, MN, USA – Creating an exceptional patient experience begins with a vision for practice change. This was the key message during Unitron’s US Engage conference, a two-day event with hearing healthcare professionals June 2-3, 2016  in Nashville, Tennessee.

“We all know that healthcare is evolving rapidly and it’s not just technology innovation driving the change.  It can be argued that consumer expectations and access to information is driving this change at an unprecedented rate.  In the hearing aid industry, we’ve been slow to adopt many new ideas, but there’s never been a bigger opportunity before us,” says Mike Dittmann, President, Unitron USA. “With events like Engage, we are bringing together experts from inside and outside of the industry to challenge the status quo, collaborate and address these challenges.  At Unitron, our goal is to facilitate and assist hearing professionals to move beyond traditional approaches and thinking and find new ways to engage patients and grow practices.”

Over two days in Music City, Unitron leaders and hearing healthcare providers learned from renowned experts in the areas of baby boomer marketing and cultural changes, the creation of a first-class patient experience, and how to effectively lead through the creation of a solid vision.   Teamwork and trust allowed the discussion to move beyond the theory and into practice, using panel discussions, workshops and round table peer-to-peer Q & As to identify tangible tactics to take away and put immediately into practice.

Unitron US Engage 2016 keynote speakers included:

  • Matt Thornhill, founder and President of the Generations Matter think tank, author of Boomer Consumer. Read Matt’s guest blog on the Unitron website ‘Banking on the boomer bubble.’
  • Jim Tincher, founder of Heart of the Customer, and a “Certified Customer Experience Professional.”  Read Jim’s guest blog on the Unitron website ‘It’s all about the emotions.’
  • Steve Pawlett, Director of Global Learning and Development for Sonova and a topical expert on leadership, sales and coaching.

Conference participants reacted enthusiastically to the practical learning provided at the Engage event.

“We are committed to providing excellent patient-centered care and are so receptive to new ideas,” says Sarah Curtis, Clinical Audiologist, Audiology Services, University Hospitals Case Medical Center. “I personally think that it is wonderful that Unitron has elected to place its focus on taking care of the patient and on reaching new patients. It was nice to see such an approach and emphasis toward hearing health and not sales.”

Change brings growth and opportunities,” tweeted Dr. Sheryl Figliano of Centers for Hearing Care, yet another Engage Nashville attendee. “What an inspirational and practical two days! I’ve already implemented things I’ve learned with staff this morning!”
