MINNETONKA, Minn. (Jan. 4, 2012) - hi HealthInnovations, a UnitedHealth Group [NYSE: UNH] company, has named Jerry L. Yanz, Ph.D., as vice president of hearing health.
Dr. Yanz, who will lead the company's team of hearing health professionals, brings audiological expertise that will be important in implementing hi HealthInnovations' mission to improve access to hearing care and state-of-the-art hearing products..
Dr. Yanz brings a breadth of diverse experience in academia, the audiology clinic and the hearing-aid industry. After obtaining a bachelor's degree from Stanford University, he earned a master's degree and Ph.D. in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University of Iowa. He held a faculty position in the Department of Communication Disorders at the University of Minnesota and then directed a large audiology clinic in St Paul, Minn.
Since joining the hearing-aid industry, Dr. Yanz has operated as an executive leader in both product research and development and ongoing education of hearing professionals. He has presented courses at many national and international conferences and has a passion for translating challenging technical concepts into language that is understandable and beneficial to practitioners and consumers.
