New micon platform working at 250 million instructions per second, with extended 12Khz bandwidth and 48 frequency channels inside a hearing instrument which delivers “sound so natural you forget you are wearing it”.
Siemens Hearing Instruments has unveiled its latest hearing innovations to the UK, pushing Soundability and natural sound to the next level. First UK evaluations from the audiology community highlight the micon™ portfolio’s excellent and natural sound quality. Its automatic functionality was also said to enable wearers to forget they were wearing the instrument and ultimately enjoy a better quality of life, through improved hearing.
Siemens Hearing Instruments has unveiled its latest hearing innovations to the UK. The micon™ range offers over twice the processing power of previous solutions.
The range is designed to deliver the optimum balance of sound quality and audibility for a wonderful hearing experience. It features extremely high frequency resolution in 48 channels, greater intelligence and bandwidth up to 12 kHz.
Three strategies combine in the innovation:
miSound provides an excellent sound quality while maintaining the natural acoustics; miFocus delivers directional microphone and digital filters to minimise listening effort in even the most challenging of environments; and miGuide detects acoustic situations to adapt the frequency response automatically and modify settings to suit the wearer.
The micon product line is now available via:
- Ace micon, a tiny RIC and Pure micon, a discreet RIC device, both suitable for up to severe hearing loss.
- Siemens Life micon, a solution if RIC is not suitable.
- Aquaris micon, now with IP68, the only truly waterproof and dustproof instrument in the industry.
- Motion BTE product family for mild to severe hearing loss.
- Finally Insio, a new range of custom products completes the expansive portfolio. All micon products have been designed with enhanced speech clarity, natural sound and wearer comfort in mind.
During early previews of the micon products delegates were reassured to hear from fellow audiologists about micon’s sound quality, ease of fitting and ease of use.
Gordon Wallace, Managing Director at Audio Hearing Services in Scotland said, “While wearing the Siemens micon I was able to converse with friends in a particularly noisy restaurant for the first time in ages. Also, as a result of the micon’s natural sound quality, a farming client informed me he no longer takes off the hearing aids while operating heavy machinery. The results are formidable which is why not only do I recommend them to my customers; I continue to wear the Ace micon myself.”
Praise was also provided by Dave Ashdown, Audiologist at Hearcentres Reigate, “I’ve been looking for an all singing, all dancing hearing instrument and the micon product range performs well across the board. I found the sound was so natural you forget you are wearing it, even when making conversation in a crowded room. The feedback cancellation and natural sound features are particularly exciting. The instrument’s automatic functionality means its impressive 48 channels and processing power are being used as effectively as possible and constantly adapting to the surrounding environment. This really ties in with client demand for a natural, comfortable and high quality sound plus, with solutions such as the Ace, the instrument is virtually unnoticeable to those outside of the audiology community.”
