Staefa / Switzerland May 7 2014 - The Hear the World Foundation is delighted to welcome two additional new celebrity ambassadors: soul singer John Newman and actress Mickey Sumner will be lending their support to the foundation, which is committed to helping people with hearing loss who are in need of aid all over the world and to raising public awareness of the issue of hearing loss. As part of this mission, the two young stars have had their pictures taken by Bryan Adams in the Hear the World pose: with one hand behind the ear to symbolize conscious hearing.

John Newman is exceptionally talented: the British soul singer not only writes and produces his own songs; he also designs his own clothing and writes the screenplays for his own videos. At the young age of 23, he has already achieved remarkable success: the song “Feel the love,” which he recorded in 2012 with the band “Rudimental,” was a hit across Europe. “Love me again,” his first single as a solo artist, immediately shot to number one in the UK.

Commenting on his new role as a Hear the World ambassador, Newman says: “I'm honored to support the Hear The World Foundation and its great work. The gift of hearing is something unique and supporting those who struggle with hearing loss is invaluable. I couldn't imagine life without my hearing, let’s put a stop to people having to.”

Actress Mickey Sumner's prolific career includes the co-starring role in Noah Baumbach's film “Frances Ha”, and the lead in the indie “Missed Connections”. Mickey recently shot multiple independent films including: James Ponsoldt's “The End of the Tour”, Tim Blake Nelson's “Anesthesia”, and John Magary's “The Mend”. She will be shooting upcoming indies “This is Happening”, and Jade Healy's “Vestige”. Sumner was seen in a recurring role last season on “Low Winter Sun” series, and had an arc on “The Borgias” in their first season.

Mickey has had her photo taken for the Hear the World Foundation and hopes that this will help attract more attention to the issues of hearing and hearing loss: "To hear, to listen, to take in the voices, sounds and music of the world around us is a sweet and important gift of life and one not to take for granted", says Mickey Sumner.

With their commitment to Hear the World, John Newman and Mickey Sumner are joining more than 70 other celebrity ambassadors who support the non-profit foundation. International stars such as Sting, Kate Moss, Diane Kruger and Peter Gabriel are just some of the many celebrities who have been photographed by Bryan Adams in the Hear the World pose.

A special commitment to children with hearing loss

One of the main priorities of the Hear the World Foundation is to provide audiological care for children with hearing loss who need support. They do this by supplying hearing aids and organizing follow-up care in cooperation with local partners. This ensures that children with hearing loss receive long-term professional care and are given the chance to enjoy a better life.
