Tinnitus UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Brooks-Johnson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2024. Alex brings over a decade of leadership experience in the voluntary sector, joining from Guild Care, where he has served as CEO for five years.
Tinnitus UK is the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting those affected by tinnitus, a condition that impacts one in seven people in the UK. Alex's personal experience of living with tinnitus for the past 10 years adds a unique perspective to his leadership role.
Lynne Gillon, Chair of the Board of Trustees, commented: "We are delighted to have Alex lead Tinnitus UK at such a pivotal time. The number of people affected by tinnitus is growing, and Alex’s appointment will help us shape the future of the charity as we work to expand our research initiatives and improve support for individuals affected by this challenging condition."
Lynne continued: "Tinnitus UK is committed to advancing both public awareness and scientific understanding of tinnitus. With Alex’s leadership, we are confident that we will continue to make meaningful strides in these areas."
Alex Brooks-Johnson said: "It’s an honour to take on the role of CEO at Tinnitus UK. As someone who has lived with tinnitus for 10 years, I understand the challenges it brings. I am deeply committed to using my leadership experience to further the charity’s mission of providing support and hope to others living with tinnitus."
Alex's appointment comes as Tinnitus UK continues to focus on enhancing services for people affect by the condition, while also supporting clinicians and those who are pioneering research into treatments and the causes of tinnitus.
