Naerum, DK, March 17 - Ida Institute announced today that Therese M. Velde, Ph.D. has joined the non-profit educational institute as Senior Audiologist. A specialist in Speech Pathology and Audiology, Dr. Velde will use her broad experience in clinical practice, research and education to further the Institute's mission of fostering a better understanding of the human dynamics of hearing loss.
"Therese brings considerable expertise in audiology and first-hand knowledge and understanding of the needs and priorities of hearing care providers and their patients to her new role," states Ida Institute Director Lise Lotte Bundesen. "Her ability to contribute an audiologist's, a researcher's and an educator's perspective to Ida Institute collaborations makes her an invaluable addition to the Institute staff."
Prior to joining the Ida Institute, Dr. Velde spent 14 years in various positions with leading hearing solution manufacturers in product research and development and professional support and training, most recently serving as Technical Support Manager for Oticon, Inc. Dr. Velde has held the position of Director of Clinical Audiology for the University of Chicago Hospitals and Adjunct Instructor, Communicative Disorders for Governors State University at University Park, Illinois.
In addition to numerous presentations at leading audiology and speech and hearing conferences, Dr. Velde has published research in a variety of peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Otology, American Journal of Rhinology, and Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, Dr. Velde holds a Ph.D. in Audiology and Hearing Impairment from Northwestern University and an M.S. and B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Arizona, Tucson.
