Dear fellow ASHA Members:
The "Buds," ASHA's hearing loss prevention advocates, have been very busy!
Most recently, they have combined forces with three great sponsors—the Consumer Electronics Association, the rock group O.A.R. and Califone International Inc. to advance ASHA's America: Tuned in Today...But Tuned Out Tomorrow campaign.
Adapting to the new generation of communication with children, ASHA's "Buds" have gone high-tech and are sharing our hearing loss prevention message in the virtual world of Whyville. This online community is dedicated to learning through exploration and communication.
With a message to a different generation, the rock group O.A.R. collaborated with ASHA to develop audio and video public service announcements. Targeted to teenagers, young adults and the next generation of O.A.R. fans, their safe listening message will be shared nationally later this year.
The "Buds" will soon find their way into classrooms around the country on the product packaging of Califone's mp3 players, designed specifically for students and educators.
