The Texas Academy of Audiology began in 2000... Our conferences have been in various locations across the state, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, College Station and this year, we are taking our 5th Annual conference to Houston, Texas.

The hotel chosen is the beautiful Hilton Houston Plaza, located by the Medical Center, Rice University, and the Museum District with quick access to the new light rail system. We have the entire 8th floor at the Hilton reserved for our meetings, exhibits and Opening Night Reception. (Call the Hilton (713) 313-4000, or visit the Hilton Plaza website www.houstonplaza.hilton.com to see more about the hotel and to reserve a room online. Go to "Book a Room" and enter "TAA" under "Group/Convention code" and receive our special TAA room rate of $89 or $99 for a suite. This special rate is available through October 28th, based on room availability.)

Several pre-conference course opportunities are offered between 8:00am and noon on Friday, November 12th. Registration opens at 10:00am, and Dr. Brad Stach will give the Keynote Address at 1:00pm on Friday. Our fun and relaxing Opening Night Reception from 7:00pm - 9:00pm Friday evening will be an opportunity to meet and greet the speakers, lobbyist, legislator and your colleagues, participate in a silent auction, and view student poster session entries.

This year's conference will offer 10+ hours of continuing education for attendees.

We have an incredible slate of speakers this year, including AAA 2003 President Dr. Brad Stach, Dr. Ruth Bentler on hearing aid technology and Dr. Richard Danielson on hearing conservation. Other speakers offer a wide variety of topics, including auditory processing, tinnitus, hearing aid fitting strategies, private practice, 3D animation of human hearing, and the new model licensure statute for audiology. There will also be professional updates by our lobbyist, consultant and state legislator.
Looking forward to seeing you all in November!

The registration fee is $100 for members and $175 for non-members (if postmarked on or before October 31st). For those of you who have not yet joined the Texas Academy, consider becoming a member of TAA today (or renewing) for $50; you then save $75 on your conference registration! Go to our website, www.texasaudiology.org for membership and/or conference registration forms.
