ASHA is pleased to announce the 2005 Students Preparing for Academic & Research Careers (SPARC) Award. Junior or senior undergraduates, 1st year master's students, and 1st and 2nd year entry level clinical doctoral (i.e., AuD) students who are enrolled part time or full time in a communication sciences and disorders program during the 2005-2006 academic year and are interested in pursuing a career as a teacher-researcher are eligible to apply.

Advancing Academic-Research Careers (AARC) Award
Advancing Your Career, Advancing Your Future
ASHA is pleased to announce the 2005 AARC Award of the ASHA Focused Initiative on the Doctoral Shortage. This award is designed to provide financial incentives to new faculty in higher education by providing awards to support and facilitate their contributions to academia and research in their beginning careers. As many as 10 awards of up to $5,000 each will be granted.
Eligibility criteria includes:
- Hold a research doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, or equivalent, e.g. EdD) or will hold by August 1, 2005
- "New" faculty status of less than six years teaching/research experience or below the level of associate professor
- Primary responsibilities of teaching and research
- Full-time faculty appointment (Postdoctoral fellows are not eligible for this award.)
- Tenure or non-tenure track appointment
