Award Given by The Chicago Athenaeum

Minneapolis, Dec. 22, 2008 - Zon,™ the award-winning hearing aid developed by Starkey Laboratories, Inc., has been honored with a 2008 GOOD DESIGN Award. The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies annually grants the GOOD DESIGN distinction to products and graphics as part of an international competition. The jury met in New York and Los Angeles to select this year's winners.

This is the fifth award for Zon, which has won accolades for both its elegant design and the technology that powers it. The product walked away with a Consumer Electronics Show Innovations 2009 Award, the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum's 2008 People's Design Award, and a Spark Design Award, as well as a Tekne Award from the Minnesota High Tech Association.

The GOOD DESIGN program was founded in 1950 by Edgar J. Kaufmann, Jr. with the participation of some of America's most important design pioneers. It remains the oldest and most important awards program worldwide. The GOOD DESIGN SHOW, featuring the winners of this year's competition, will begin in Chicago in June 2009.
