Minneapolis, April 1, 2011 - Starkey Laboratories, Inc., one of the world's leading hearing technology companies, is proud to announce that its SoundLens™ hearing aid has been honored with a red dot award: product design 2011. The red dot design award is one of the most renowned international product competitions in the world. More than 1,700 companies from 60 countries took part this year, submitting a total of 4,433 entries.

"Winning a red dot award is truly an honor," said Jerry Ruzicka, President of Starkey. "We are proud to offer patients the benefits of excellent technology in a style that is virtually invisible. The design provides a unique blend of style and performance to complement an active lifestyle. A growing number of people with hearing loss enjoy this invisible solution."

SoundLens is Starkey's custom invisible-in-the-canal hearing aid. Designed to deliver high quality, customization and performance, SoundLens harnesses the power of Voice iQ2, Starkey's noise management and speech preservation system designed to let people hear the conversations they want to and reduce the noise they don't. SoundLens overcomes the hearing aid stigma by allowing a hearing impaired person to wear a hearing instrument that no one else can see.

SoundLens will be featured with the other prize-winning products July 5 to August 1, 2011, in the exhibition, "Design on stage - winners red dot award: product design 2011," at the red dot design museum. With an excess of 1,500 products spread over an area of more than 4,000 m2, the red dot design museum houses the largest permanent exhibition of contemporary design worldwide.
