New Flagship Product Features Industry's First Integrated Real Ear Measurement and Initial Fitting in Less than Two Minutes.

Denver - Starkey Laboratories, one of the world's leading hearing technology companies, today launched the Destiny 1600 during the AudiologyNow! 2007 conference. The new flagship product, Destiny 1600, offers the industry's first initial fit protocol that allows practitioners to conduct an automated initial fitting using real-ear data in less than two minutes. On display at booth No. 346, the Destiny 1600 joins the Destiny line of hearing aids that work in tandem with the intuitive Inspire OS 2.0 software, powered by Starkey's proprietary nFusion technology.

"Starkey continually seeks innovative technologies to improve the patient journey to better hearing," said Jerry Ruzicka, president, Starkey Laboratories. "The Destiny 1600 continues the momentum of last year's revolutionary introduction of nFusion technology and demonstrates Starkey's firm commitment to improve user's hearing and help hearing care professionals ensure more accurate fittings."

"It's widely accepted that real ear measurement is the only way to get a completely accurate, individualized hearing aid fit. Until now, this has required expensive equipment, and the measurement process can be time consuming," Ruzicka says. "The Destiny 1600 provides a fully Integrated Real Ear measurement, automatically incorporated throughout the Inspire OS 2.0 fitting software, providing the most precise fit possible in very little time."

Additional Destiny 1600 product features include:

  • Integrated Real Ear measurement provides the most accurate fit on the market and requires no additional equipment

  • Voice Indicators alert patients, in a wide variety of languages, on the status of their hearing aid, such as low battery, telephone mode and memory

  • Self Check is a diagnostic tool that gives patients a performance report of their hearing aids circuit, receiver and microphone

  • Reminder feature allows practitioners to program an audible follow-up to remind patients about maintenance and return visits
The Destiny 1600 behind-the-ear model (BTE) is available in a stylish new design and 15 colors and patterns to enhance hair color and skin tones, and fit consumers' lifestyle.

Designed to work specifically with Destiny hearing line of products is the Inspire OS 2.0 software platform, the industry's only fitting software available today that recreates a user's hearing environments within a hearing care professional's office. Simulating various environments through virtual reality, Inspire OS 2.0 works in sync with the Destiny products and nFusion Technology to collect real-ear data and provide the fastest, most accurate individualized fit possible for patients.

About the Destiny Hearing System

Starkey's Destiny hearing aid series includes the Destiny 200, 400, 800, 1200 and 1600 and is available in behind-the-ear, on-the-ear, in-the-ear, in-the-canal, and completely-in-the-canal models. The Destiny hearing system line is based on Starkey's nFusion technology which leverages the power of nanoscience—science at the molecular level—to pack more features than ever into each Destiny hearing aid and to activate those features automatically. As a result, Destiny hearing aids are the only hearing aids to offer three specific features that address users' most common complaints: Active Feedback Intercept, which gets rid of that annoying whistling sound often associated with wearing hearing aids; Directional Speech Detector, which with its laser-like focus lets users hear exactly what they want to hear, even in extremely noisy situations; and Acoustic Signature, which automatically and instantaneously adjusts for and switches to different listening environments, making it nearly biological in its response. With these features, Destiny hearing aids offer users the most natural and powerful hearing of any hearing aid available today.
