All 200 seats at summer learning program are filled

Eden Prairie, Minn.—April 28, 2006—Starkey Laboratories, one of the world's leading hearing technology companies, today announced that it is closing registration for its 2006 Student Focus Workshop as all 200 seats are now full. All remaining available seats for the summer learning program, which is taking place August 3, 4, and 5, were filled during the American Academy of Audiology's AudiologyNOW! Convention in Minneapolis earlier this month.

"We pride ourselves on having the most complete, most compelling summer learning program available to audiology students," said Sara Burdak, an audiologist who runs Starkey's student outreach efforts. "This immediate and overwhelming response to our 2006 program demonstrates that students recognize the value of our program and the commitment we make to their future."

Speaking at this year's Starkey Student Focus Workshop is Dr. Richard Seewald and Dr. Linda Thibodeau. Dr. Seewald, a professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Western Ontario, has more than 25 years of experience in selecting and fitting amplification instruments in infants and young children. Dr. Thibodeau, a professor at the University of Texas, Dallas, and co-director of the Pediatric Aural Habilitation Training Specialist Project, teaches on the subject of amplification and pediatric aural habilitation.

Starkey's Student Focus Workshop is designed to educate and sensitize audiology students to the complexities of hearing aid dispensing and manufacturing through an intensive hands-on, interactive format. The 2006 Student Focus Workshop will address a variety of topics, including hearing instrument candidacy and selection; hearing aid fitting and patient management; verification during fittings; acoustic modification; and more.

While Starkey's Student Focus Workshop is full, the company is still accepting applications for the 2006 William F. Austin scholarship, which is a $10,000 tuition reimbursement given to five outstanding audiology graduate students. Students are selected by a panel of judges who consider academic achievements and interests, community involvement, career interests, and life goals among other criteria. The deadline for applications is Friday, June 9. Additional information and applications are available at www.StarkeyFirst.com.
