Minneapolis, Aug. 9, 2011 - Starkey Laboratories, Inc., a global leader in hearing technology, is excited to announce the launch of X Series™, Starkey's broadest and most advanced family of digital hearing aids. The new family includes an array of new features including Voice iQ2, an update to Starkey's leading noise reduction and speech preservation system, and Spectral iQ, a frequency lowering technology designed to help patients who truly need this intelligent option. X Series introduces three new hearing aid styles: Xino™, Starkey's smallest RIC ever, the new RIC 13 and a new Power Plus behind-the-ear (BTE).
X Series new and enhanced features include:
- Voice iQ2, Starkey's leading noise reduction and speech preservation system, now with nearly double the noise reduction capability, which is designed to help patients focus on the sounds they want to hear by reducing the sounds they don't.
- Spectral iQ, Starkey's new solution for patients who have steeply sloping, high-frequency hearing loss. It is designed to enhance real-time audibility by intelligently identifying high-frequency speech cues - then replicating them in lower frequencies.
- Updated signal processing architecture to improve overall sound quality and efficiency, including new vent modeling, automatic vent detection, improved compression and updated eSTAT targets.
- HydraShield®2, adding advanced oleophobic properties to the HydraShield nanocoating to better protect X Series new RIC hearing aids from earwax and other oily substances.
- Self Learning, which gradually and automatically learns patient volume control preference in each active memory and is designed to ease patient transition to a new technology.
- Swap Fit, a fitting function that allows hearing care professionals to transfer patient settings from their current Starkey product to a new Starkey product.
Styles
Starkey's new Xino and RIC 13 build off of the award-winning design language that has earned several industry honors. Xino is Starkey's smallest RIC with one-of-a-kind 10A RIC features. It is designed to be nearly invisible when worn and fits all types of hearing loss, with receivers ranging from 40dB to 70dB Absolute Power (AP) receivers. Xino is the only 10A RIC with a configurable user control, telecoil and locking battery door that also includes all of Starkey's leading features.
The RIC 13 is a flexible, high-performance hearing aid that delivers the battery life of a standard 13 product in a case smaller than Starkey's RIC 312 and includes a configurable user control for either volume or memory, as well as a telecoil, locking battery door, DAI capability and HydraShield2.
Finally, X Series offers the new Power Plus BTE that comes with a 13 battery and delivers up to 80dB of gain - providing a powerful option for patients with severe hearing loss.
SoundLens™, the world's first custom, invisible**, digital and fully programmable invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) hearing aid, also incorporates all of the new and enhanced features found in X Series.
