Four Issues to be Published in 2009;Readers Encouraged to Share Insights Online
Minneapolis, March 16, 2009 - Starkey Laboratories, Inc., one of the world's leading hearing technology companies, is proud to announce the launch of the Starkey Audiology Series, a series of opinion papers by renowned experts in the field of audiology. Starkey will publish four issues of the Starkey Audiology Series in 2009, featuring James Jerger, Ph.D., Deborah Hayes, Ph.D., Catherine Palmer, Ph.D. and Robert Sweetow, Ph.D. The series is available online at StarkeyPro.com in the Audiology & Education section. The articles will be accompanied by an online open bulletin board where readers can post comments, questions, critiques and requests for additional information from the authors.

Freeman and Jerry Northern, Ph.D., are in charge of compiling and editing the Starkey Audiology Series. Freeman was chair and a professor in the audiology department at Nova Southeastern University in Florida and spent more than 20 years in private practice. He also served as president and as a member of the board of directors for the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), from which he received the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2006. Northern is a prolific writer with two textbooks on his roster including Hearing in Children (5th edition, 2003) and Hearing Disorders. He served as professor of otolaryngology and director of audiology services at the University of Colorado School of Medicine for 26 years and is a former editor of Audiology Today as well as a founding member of the AAA and former president of the organization.
