Eden Prairie, Minnesota (November 13, 2023) – Starkey honored employees who have served in the military by hosting them in its U.S. Bank Stadium turf suite for the Minnesota Vikings Salute to Service Game®. In addition to an immersive gameday experience, the group visited with the Minnesota Vikings® Cheerleaders and former players. Honorary attendees included servicemen and women from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and National Guard.
“Supporting and giving back to those who have served our country is an important part of Starkey’s core values, and one of the main pillars of our corporate social responsibility program, Starkey Cares,” said Starkey President and CEO Brandon Sawalich. “Our employee veterans not only fought to protect our freedoms but are also such a valued part of our Starkey family. We can’t adequately express our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices they’ve made to ensure our safety, but this was our way of saying thank you this Veteran’s Day.”
As the only American-owned hearing aid manufacturer, Starkey is proud to provide access to advanced hearing technology to those who have served through the Veterans Affairs Administration, Department of Defense, and other federal agencies. Exposure to loud noise is common in the military, making hearing loss and tinnitus, often known as a ringing in the ears, two of the most common service-related injuries. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 2.7 million veterans are affected by hearing loss or tinnitus.
“Helping active and non-active duty service members hear better has always been a personal mission for me, whether that be through hearing protection or hearing aid solutions,” said Starkey Chief Audiology Officer, Sara Burdak, Au.D. “We often celebrate the great work our employees are doing at the office, but it was an honor to host this amazing group and thank them for everything they have done for our country as well!”
