MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 6, 2012 – Starkey Hearing Technologies, one of the world’s leading hearing technology companies, is proud to announce that it is a recipient of the 2012 Tekne Award in the Life Sciences award category. Held last week at the Minneapolis Convention Center, the Tekne Awards honor companies and individuals who have played a significant role in developing new technologies that positively impact the lives and futures of people living around the world.
Starkey Hearing Technologies won for SurfLink® Mobile, the industry’s most unique and versatile cell phone solution. This device enables hands-free cell phone conversations directly through the user’s hearing aids. “We are so proud to accept the Tekne Award for our innovative work creating SurfLink Mobile,” said President Jerry Ruzicka. “It is an honor to be associated with so many other innovative Minnesota companies.”
Tekne Awards were presented to 15 of Minnesota’s most influential companies in technological innovation, development, commercialization and management. Three of the 12 categories included separate awards for small and growing businesses (with annual revenues under $50 million) and established businesses (with annual revenues of $50 million or more).
