Eden Prairie, Minnesota (January 8, 2020) – Starkey Hearing Technologies has donated $15,000 to fund several charities working hard to fight Australian brushfires and help save the wildlife. They include The Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, Australia's Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery, and the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Across the country, nearly 20 million acres of land have burned since the fires started in September. Dozens of people have perished, and thousands of homes have been destroyed. According to journalists on the ground in Australia, the number of animals affected nationwide could be as high as a billion.
“The images of the destruction and people being displaced from their homes and families and the unimaginable damage to Australia's wildlife bring all that's important to the forefront– respect for life and helping people,” said Starkey President Brandon Sawalich. “We are a company built on people helping people, and we want to put our words into action. Doing what's right, acts of kindness, and supporting people is the Starkey way.”
