Eden Prairie, Minnesota (October 11, 2021) – Starkey Chief Audiology Officer and Executive Vice President of Marketing Sara Burdak, Au.D., has been named the Silver Globee Winner for the Excellence in Industry Woman of the Year awards in the Manufacturing category. Women World Awards recognizes women in business and professions from all over the world and encompasses the world’s best in leadership, innovation, organizational performance, new products and services, and milestones from every major industry in the world. This annual awards program celebrates the individuals and teams who set industry benchmarks for excellence. Judges from around the world representing a wide spectrum of industry experts participated in the judging process.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition and accept it on behalf of the entire Starkey team,” said Dr. Burdak. “As someone who’s been committed to the hearing healthcare profession for decades, it is a privilege to have the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned as an audiologist to the manufacturing process. By connecting dots between hearing professionals, engineers and our operations team, we’re able to take a holistic approach to creating hearing devices that not only treat hearing loss but improve the overall health and wellness of patients.”

Dr. Burdak joined Starkey as an audiologist on the Hearing Research and Technology team in 1999. For nearly two decades, she has worked to bring impactful programs to Starkey’s global customer base. She is responsible for developing and aligning Starkey’s global audiology strategy as it relates to education and training programs, the Department of Veterans Affairs and customer and industry relations. The American Academy of Audiology honored Dr. Burdak as a Fellow and a 2020 Academy Scholar for excellence and dedication to the profession. In 2021, she gave the opening remarks at the Student Academy of Audiology Conference.

“Starkey is committed to providing the most innovative hearing products delivered with the utmost quality and custom craftsmanship. We are proud to congratulate Sara on this prestigious award, as she is a leading driver of that innovation and excellence in manufacturing,” said Starkey President and CEO Brandon Sawalich. “In addition, Sara’s dedication to creating ongoing learning opportunities for hearing healthcare professionals will help us continue to lead the way for better hearing now and in the future.”
