University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and Gallaudet University Take Top Honors
Minneapolis, April 21, 2011 - Starkey Laboratories, Inc., one of the world's leading hearing technology companies, is proud to announce the winners of the Starkey University Trivia Challenge played at AudiologyNOW! 2011 in Chicago, Ill. The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn., will receive a $5,000 donation to their school's audiology program, and Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., received second place and a donation of $2,500. The challenge was played nearly 1,000 times by students across the country.
As part of its AudiologyNOW! 2011 booth, Starkey created a lounge for students, where they could play the interactive Trivia Challenge. Students were asked to answer questions on Starkey's latest technologies, as well as questions related to audiology history and science. More than 50 university programs competed in the trivia challenge, and the two schools with the highest average correct scores were awarded scholarships.
Students could also access the new "Starkey for Hearing Care Professionals" Facebook fan page and were encouraged to enter Starkey's "Why I Chose Audiology" contest - ending April 30 - where they had an additional opportunity to earn a $1,000 scholarship for their university's audiology program.
