Sneak peek of new Livio AI features presented at renowned European Congress.
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 28, 2019 - This month, the Starkey Germany, Italy, UK, France and US teams showcased the game-changing hearing aid, Livio® AI, at the 2019 European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) Congress in Nuremberg, Germany. This year marked its 64th Congress and exhibition which hosted more than 140 exhibitors from around the globe.
At the Starkey booth, guests had the opportunity to experience Livio AI and the Thrive® App hands-on and get an exclusive sneak peek of the new features coming November 1, including direct streaming from select Android™ phones and sensor-enabled power saving. A notable attraction throughout the convention center was the Thrive Challenge, where guests could compete for the highest Thrive Score through their steps. Inside the Livio AI Theater, visitors were able to participate in Q & A’s with Starkey Chief Innovation Officer Dave Fabry, Ph.D., and Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Engineering Achin Bhowmik, Ph.D.
Dr. Fabry also presented “The Gateway to Health, Wellness and Information with Livio AI,” a lecture breaking down all of the features of the Thrive App and Livio AI, including physical activity data monitoring, the app’s combined brain and body health score and fall detection. The goal of these features is to promote health and wellness among users while treating their hearing loss at the same time. Starkey Supervisor of Clinical Research Kevin Seitz-Paquette also presented in the Livio AI Theater on “Clinical Considerations of Comorbidities of Hearing Loss,” which explained how hearing loss contributes to other chronic illnesses and conditions, like dementia and heart disease.
“‘Cutting-edge technology’ and ‘hearing aids’ aren’t usually used in the same sentence,” said Starkey President Brandon Sawalich, who was onsite to meet with partners about the future of the hearing industry. “Here at Starkey, we asked ‘why not?’ Why not challenge what we can do? And we did. We know there is a deep connection between treating hearing loss and reducing health risks. By reinventing the hearing aid, we’re leading the industry in a new direction to help people truly live healthier and better lives.”
