The Sonova Group Names New Phonak US Chief

Former President & CEO is named Executive Director, Corporate Relations

Stafa, Switzerland - (January 15, 2009) - Today, Sonova Holding AG (SOON) named Mike Orscheln as President and Chief Executive Officer of Phonak US. Former President and CEO Cathy Jones has been named Executive Director of Corporate Relations for Phonak US. Both appointments are effective January 1, 2009.

Orscheln joined Phonak as Chief Operating Officer in October 2007. Prior to joining Phonak, Mike spent more than 25 years in various management, sales, and marketing functions in the healthcare industry, most recently with Cardinal Health, Inc., where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager for the $500M Ambulatory Care division.

In her new role, Jones will manage the Hear the World Foundation in the United States, overseeing fundraising and public relations efforts and continuing to play a key role in representing Phonak US at customer and industry events.

"This new role allows me to grow in the next phase of my career, and I really look forward to expanding awareness of the Hear the World Foundation throughout the United States," states Jones.

Jones joined Phonak in 1996 as Director of Education and Customer Services. In 2002, she was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer. Under her leadership, Phonak US grew significantly and became one of the leaders in the U.S. Hearing Instrument market. Jones has played a significant role in setting industry standards through her career. Her most recent contributions include the Hearing Industries Association where she has been a long time board member and recently served as Chairperson. Jones is President-elect of the Better Hearing Institute.
