Company Showcases Enhanced PRISMA™2 Line at AAA 2003

SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 2003 -
Building on the success of the PRISMA™ line of hearing instruments, Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc. introduces PRISMA™2. Showcased at the American Academy of Audiology Convention (AAA), exhibit #1144, PRISMA 2 offers improved listening, fitting and wearing comfort at no extra cost by combining PRISMA's fully digital quality with updated features, and improved TwinMic™ directional microphone technology. Available for distribution, the PRISMA 2 line offers a wide variety of Behind-the-Ear and custom models for any level of hearing loss.

"Siemens designed PRISMA 2 to provide optimal hearing solutions for the widest variety of hearing loss," said Pamela Burton, director of product management for Siemens Hearing Instruments. "With all of its advanced features, PRISMA 2 raises the bar for quality and value in hearing instruments without increasing the price."

The PRISMA 2 line of digital hearing instruments offers flexible four-channel technology with optimized compression control and output limiting. In addition to the TwinMic directional technology that offers improved performance of its directional microphone system, the PRISMA 2 line includes several other features, such as a new feedback management system, improved Voice Activity Detection, and acoustic indicators for program change and power management.

  • Passive and adaptive feedback algorithms allow more gain without annoying feedback for many patients.

  • The PRISMA 2 system also keeps patients informed about its status by emitting soft signals to tell them when to change batteries. In addition, because the unit's power consumption has been condensed, PRISMA 2 is even less expensive to operate.

  • PRISMA 2 hearing instruments can be precisely fitted and fine-tuned using Siemens CONNEXX™ programming software, which has a new, easy user interface designed especially for the PRISMA 2 line. CONNEXX enables Hearing Care Professionals to tune Siemens digitally programmable hearing instruments for patients, and tailors the fitting process for each patient's needs by actively involving the patient to achieve the most comfortable fit with more ease and expediency.
