Siemens Hearing Instruments Enhances TRIANO with new features

PISCATAWAY, N.J., MAY 2003 -
Originally introduced to Hearing Care Professionals and individuals with hearing loss in March 2002, Siemens has enhanced TRIANO™ with additional features and patient benefits. TRIANO is a family of hearing solutions that focuses on patient comfort by offering a highly sophisticated algorithm that analyzes the environment and automatically makes the appropriate signal processing changes.

Taking a new approach to improvement, the enhancements to TRIANO resulted from collaboration between continued research in hearing care and input from Hearing Care Professionals. These innovative enhancements include:
  • Optimized fitting and sound processing with even better sound quality and increased patient satisfaction.

  • More directional options available on most models.

  • A new sports program and enhanced settings for music and telephone environments to enhance patient benefits.

  • Patient friendly on/off battery compartment door operation for the TRIANO 3 BTE.

  • An improved program button for enhanced patient convenience on the TRIANO 3 BTE.

  • Quick and easy demonstration of TRIANO directional microphone system benefits.
The highlight of this intuitive digital technology is the Speech Comfort System, exclusive to the TRIANO family of hearing solutions. The Speech Comfort System provides increased comfort in many every day listening environments by detecting and processing the situation and then responding appropriately. The system contains three components: Automatic Situation Detection, Signal Optimization and Automatic Directional Microphone.
  • With the Automatic Situation Detection, the system is able to decide whether the listening situation is speech, speech in a noisy environment, fluctuating noise, stationary wind noise, or if there is a feedback condition. The system then automatically applies appropriate modifications for that situation in real-time.

  • The Signal Optimization reduces the negative effects of background noise by employing a Fast Signal Optimizer (a high resolution, 16-channel noise reduction system) to provide even better performance in noisy situations. The Signal Optimization also consists of: Speech Sensitive Processing, Automatic Directionality, Wind Noise Reduction, Feedback Suppression, and Adaptive Telecoil (T-coil).

  • With the Automatic Directional Microphone, TRIANO smoothly transitions between directional and omnidirectional modes in appropriate situations. The transition occurs smoothly and automatically without creating noise or other distractions.
Siemens is the first - and only company - to offer three-microphone directional technology, TriMic™ (available on the TRIANO 3 BTE model). TriMic provides the highest level of directional performance available working with an AI-DI (Articulation Index - Directivity Index) over 6dB. Most TRIANO instruments utilize TwinMic™ technology, a two-microphone directional system. Both TwinMic and TriMic can be programmed with automatic activation and adaptive directionality so the instruments are able to follow the source of noise and adjust automatically, even if the noise moves or changes direction.
