Conference Enables Hearing Care Partners to Provide Quality Service for the Hearing Impaired, Showcases LasR™ and PRISMA™2 Innovations

PISCATAWAY, NJ, February 2003 -
Hearing Care Professionals from around the country recently convened for the 10th Annual Winter Symposium sponsored by Siemens Hearing Instruments. Held in Playacar, Mexico from January 16 -20, the conference provided more than 150 Hearing Care Professionals with information about Siemens' latest developments in hearing instrument technology.

"Siemens recognizes that the hearing industry is constantly evolving and changing," said Dr. Thomas A. Powers, director of Audiology and Strategic Development. "We remain committed to improve the quality of life of individuals with hearing loss, and are confident that the educational programs held during the symposium provide our Hearing Care Professionals with the tools and knowledge they need to offer quality service to hearing impaired individuals."
Lectures at the symposium included updates on the latest hearing instrument technology and case histories, plus symposium attendees received hands-on sessions with the newest fitting software and e-business solutions.

The symposium featured Siemens LasR™ (Laser Accurate Scan Replication) technology, which utilizes digital mechanical assembly technology, precision laser scanning and cutting-edge computer software to create more accurate and comfortably fitting hearing instruments. Also featured was PRISMA™2, Siemens newest digital hearing instrument, offering flexible four-channel technology with optimized compression control and output limiting, which provides for improved listening, fitting, and wearing comfort.

The symposium also featured Siemens new In-Office Demonstration System to assist Hearing Care Professionals with demonstrating the benefits of directional microphones and noise reduction.

The Winter Symposium offered Hearing Care Professionals the opportunity to learn about new technology in the hearing instrument industry, and to network and share ideas with their peers.

Symposium attendee David Smith from Huntington, West Virginia said, "The 2003 Winter Symposium was an excellent experience. The discussion topics at the professional sessions were timely, honest, and very informative. We could not have been treated better. Siemens goes above and beyond in providing their guests with the best possible professional opportunities."

Symposium participants also earned continuing education credits from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and the National Institute for Hearing Instruments Studies (NIHIS).
