- New miniTek® Android™ app for smartphones unveiled
Piscataway, N.J., April 4, 2013 - Today, Siemens Hearing Instruments announced expanded availability of its industry-leading micon™ technology into more hearing instruments and additional performance levels. The micon chip delivers a comprehensive combination of industry-leading features in one platform, resulting in exceptional clarity and sound comfort. The technology will be available in the newly released Insio™ micon product family of custom instruments as well as the Motion® behind-the-ear (BTE) line. This Spring, micon technology will be extended to the 3mi performance level for the Pure®, Siemens Life™ and Aquaris® hearing instruments. The 3mi platform is ideal for wearers who want the benefits of micon technology at a more attractive price point. The expanded micon product portfolio and accessories will be on display in the Siemens Hearing Instruments booth #1126 at the American Academy of Audiology’s AudiologyNOW! 2013 conference, from April 4-6 in Anaheim, Calif.
“The expanded portfolio means hearing care professionals can offer patients the proven benefits of micon for nearly every hearing loss, age, lifestyle or cosmetic preference,” said Scott Davis, CEO, Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc. “We’re excited to expand the availability of this technology to a broader set of Siemens products.”
The Insio micon line of custom instruments features the new Optivent™—a customized vent designed to minimize occlusion and feedback while achieving the same acoustical performance as traditionally larger vents. Advanced modeling software enables Siemens to build the optimal shape and size of vent, allowing for even smaller instruments with higher wearing comfort. Insio micon has additional performance features such as faster feedback cancellation, optimized directionality and noise reduction in 48 channels, and a tinnitus therapy feature — resulting in a more seamless, natural wearer experience. The devices are also wireless, even down to the smallest completely-in-the-canal (CIC) instrument. Insio micon will be available in the 7mi and 5mi performance levels and is available in a wide range of colors and jewel tones.
Siemens’ micon technology has also been extended to the Motion BTE family in the SX, PX, M and P models at the 7mi and 5mi performance levels. The Motion line is fully-featured and suitable for all age groups with virtually any degree of hearing loss. All models are IP67-rated, making them resistant to moisture, sweat, dirt and dust. The Motion SX and PX micon models feature a new slim-neck housing with optimized directional microphones, customizable controls, wireless connectivity, and are fully rechargeable. Motion M and P micon models are available with optional safety features for young children. Both models are direct audio input (DAI)-ready, and connect easily to most classroom FM systems. A programmable key lock for all onboard controls and optional battery door lock is also available. Motion M and P micon models are part of Siemens’ new “Active Kids & Teens” portfolio. The portfolio features hearing instruments and accessories tailored to children’s specific needs.
Also announced today is the new Android™-based miniTek Remote App. Once paired, wearers can select an audio source, adjust volume and access other hearing instrument settings directly from their smartphone, making it easier to adjust hearing aid settings. The miniTek remote app is available as a free download from the Google Play Store.
