Ensure that Young Children with Hearing Loss Have Access to Early Intervention Services
In mid-November, the Senate plans to reconvene in Washington. This is a perfect time for you to contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to co-sponsor the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Act of 2007 (S.1069). This important legislation would reauthorize EHDI grants to states, which fund state-wide programs that screen newborns for hearing loss before they leave the hospital. Additionally, the legislation would expand states' ability to enroll identified babies in early intervention programs.
