Elkins Park PA, June 27, 2012 - A distance-education international AuD-Bridge degree program that will enable master's degree audiologists and audiology physicians to obtain a clinical doctoral degree (AuD) has been announced by Salus University George S. Osborne College of Audiology.
This web-based, post-master's degree level AuD-Bridge program was created specifically to meet the demands made on the 21st century audiologist. According to Dean Victor Bray, the academic program will begin on August 20 and is "uniquely designed for mid-career audiologists who will bring the value of practical experience to this program of study. At Salus, our new program features the components necessary for audiologists to remain current with rapid advances in audiology and the health care sciences."
All students will be required to enroll in a minimum of 30 courses. Of these courses, 28 are didactic and web-based. Students will be required to choose two of the multiple hands-on practicum courses to be offered on-campus or arranged to coincide with various national and/or international audiology conferences in other locations.
With an evidence-based emphasis on practice in each area, the new program will enable students to advance their core knowledge in the fundamentals of neuroscience and psychoacoustics;learn the application of sound clinical methods for diagnosis and rehabilitation;adhere to evidence-based intervention methods;and achieve a deep understanding of public health and professional issues. "Their knowledge and skills add to the core philosophy of our curriculum, which is based on meeting the needs of practicing audiologists," said Dr. Bray. "This combination ensures that our international AuD-Bridge degree program students can apply what they learn directly to their work, practice and research."
Registration for this program will be open from July 16 to August 3. The international AuD-Bridge program culminates with the awarding of a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree from Salus University Osborne College of Audiology.
