Reed Doughty, safety with the Washington Redskins, will serve as the 2011 national honorary chair of the Walk4Hearing held in the spring and fall in cities across the country.
Reed is no stranger to hearing loss — he wears hearing aids as does his dad (his role model) and his aunts. Selected by the Redskins in the 2006 draft in the sixth round, Reed is a starting safety who logged a career high in tackles and sacks in the 2010 season. He was named the team's Ed Block Courage Award winner during the 2008 season.
He says, "I am pleased to be the honorary chair. If I am anywhere where there is a Walk I will be sure to participate." Reed served as the local honorary chair for the Washington DC Walk4Hearing for the past two years. We are excited that Reed can now serve on a national scope. Stay tuned for more about Reed and what makes him Walk4Hearing.
