Savia™ recognized as innovative product in hearing healthcare.
Warrenville, IL (May 13, 2005) - Savia, Phonak Hearing Systems' newly launched premium hearing system, has been awarded the 2005 Medical Design Excellence Award, which recognizes contributions to and advances in the design of medical products.
The Savia product line incorporates 10 new technologies into its design. It is the first hearing system to implement the unique capabilities of biological systems using state-of-the-art digital technology. These digital bionics features are designed to provide effortless hearing in all situations, excellent speech understanding even in challenging listening environments, and more natural localization ability.
"With Savia, we are entering a new era in hearing instrument technology," said Cathy Jones, president of Phonak in the United States. "We are honored by the Medical Design Excellence Award judges' recognition of Savia's Digital Bionics. This award further supports our mission to substantially improve the quality of life for hearing-impaired individuals by offering not only breakthrough sound enhancement, but the continuation of cutting-edge aesthetics and design."
The award competition, the only one of its kind, evaluates design and engineering features that improve patient benefits, healthcare delivery and change in traditional medical attitudes or practices.
Phonak will be honored at a ceremony during the Medical Design & Manufacturing East Conference and Exposition, June 13-15, in New York City.
