Warrenville, IL (March 30, 2005) - Phonak Hearing Systems' new Savia line of ITE and BTE models doesn't just feature one or two major technological breakthroughs, but 10 of them.
"As the leader in digital innovations, Phonak's Savia line achieves the ultimate promise of digital technology, including effortless hearing in an infinite number of environments, understanding in the presence of multiple noise sources and natural localization abilities. In addition, it provides comfortable communication in echo-filled environments, feedback-free unoccluded fittings and intuitive fitting of sophisticated features," said David Fabry, Ph.D., Director of Clinical Research.
The Savia system, featuring Digital Bionics, addresses all of these challenges. Its technology breakthroughs are grouped into the following systems:
AutoPilot: This technology automatically navigates through the auditory environment by analyzing and classifying sound scenes. Phonak's patented "SoundNavigation" then compiles a set of customized functionalities. Then Autopilot detects telephone and FM signals and switches to the appropriate input or program automatically. This unique sound processing feature has a component specially adapted for music, providing rich, full sound."Combined, these technologies represent Digital Bionics - a hearing aid that implements the capabilities of biological systems using state of the art digital technology," said Dr. Fabry.
AutoFocus: This breakthrough provides speech understanding in the presence of multiple, interfering sound sources as a result of a 20 channel beamformer and technology that restores the ear's natural localization abilities.
SoundCleaning: This scanning technology eliminates disturbing components in each signal, including noise, wind noise, feedback and reverberation.
DataLogging: This unique tool, available in digital instruments first from Phonak, monitors a patient's usage by recording what sound environment the patient encounters most frequently and what sound volume the patient prefers. This allows hearing professionals to fine tune the instruments based on the wearer's actual usage.
iPFG Successware: The software analyzes raw data to propose optimal volume corrections and combines user feedback, logged data and professional experience.
