Reston, Virginia (February 12, 2013)—The American Academy of Audiology Foundation is pleased to announce that a generous grant from Phonak will underwrite the 2013 Improving Patient Care Through Innovation in Workplace Management Lecture. The presentation, The Impact of Patient Experience Data Collection on Patient Satisfaction in an Evolving Reimbursement Climate (.3 CEUs), will feature a multidisciplinary team from Rush University Medical Center (RUMC). The lecture will include an overview of critical factors that impact patient experience and assist audiologists as they seek appropriate tools that can be used to measure patient satisfaction. These topics are projected to become increasingly relevant in outpatient health-care and audiology clinical practices.
“Phonak is pleased to work with the Foundation through the support of informative presentations such as this that highlight the patient experience,” said Jeff Newnham, Phonak president. “At Phonak we are committed to working closely with the audiology community to continually provide new products and services that help patients live their lives without limitations. And we are excited to partner with the Foundation on this lecture that will provide a timely and relevant perspective on patient satisfaction.”
The lecture will be offered at AudiologyNOW! 2013 in Anaheim on Saturday, April 6, 8:00-11:30 am PT, by Francis A. Fullam, MA, assistant professor, RUMC Health Systems Management, and senior director, marketing research and patient relations; Briana J. Jegier, PhD, assistant professor, RUMC Health Systems Management, and Women, Children, and Family Nursing; and Keri Kwarta, AuD, director of the Audiology Patient Quality Outcome Program at Rush.
Those who cannot travel to California for the conference will be able to access the presentation in a live and interactive Webcast format; beginning April 15, it will also be available on-demand through www.eAudiology.org. Audiologists can register at eAudiology for both the live and on-demand sessions that are approved for ABA Tier 1 credit. The Phonak grant will cover the costs of the online offerings, so the lecture will be offered at no charge through March 31, 2014.
Dick Danielson, PhD, chair of the Foundation board, expressed great enthusiasm about this year’s presentation. “We are very pleased that this year’s endowed lecture on workplace management will be given by a multidisciplinary faculty, with a unique and innovative approach to examining patient satisfaction with appropriate metrics. The Foundation thanks Phonak for their generous and progressive support to this annual lectureship, which is aimed at incorporating workplace skills and improved patient outcomes.”
