The PCO School of Audiology will close applications to the distance education Au.D. Degree "bridge" program December 31, 2006. "The program has been open for nearly 7 years, giving every licensed audiologist and nearly every newly graduated audiologist ample time to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to earn the Au.D. Degree without having to leave their practices", said Dr. George Osborne, Dean of Audiology Programs at the College. Audiologists will have a full 3 years to complete the program which will graduate it's last distance education Au.D. folks in May of 2010.
The initial intent of all of the distance education opportunities was to transition at least half (a critical mass) of practicing audiologists to the Au.D. Degree. According to Osborne, "we will have more than 7,000 Au.D.'s by 2010 and all of our new audiology graduates will hold the Au.D. Degree". "The goal has been met and it is time to put the distance programs behind us", said Osborne.
Those audiologists who would like to participate in the PCO School of Audiology program need to log-in to www.audonline.org - click on the admissions link and complete the application - choose Track 2 only (it is too late to process the EPAC profile required for Track 1). As long as the appointment for your curriculum interview is scheduled before the end of the year you will be admitted and will have plenty of time to finish the program. Interview appointments are currently being scheduled for February and March 2007. You must act today - the College will be closed the last week of December.
