Paul Breckell, chief executive at Action on Hearing Loss (formerly RNID) will be stepping down from his position in August after eleven years with the charity and six years as chief executive.
The decision, announced to the Board of Trustees of the charity at the end of May, is due to Paul’s personal circumstances, including additional caring responsibilities in his family.
Paul is moving on to become the Director of Strategy and Transformation at the charity Ambitious About Autism on a one year contract with the flexibility to give him the appropriate time to meet his family commitments.
Paul Breckell said: “It has been a privilege to lead Action on Hearing Loss for the past six years and I’m very proud of what we have achieved and am confident that there are even greater things to come for the charity. I’m looking forward to new challenges at Ambitious About Autism, another fantastic and progressive charity, and also having more time to meet my family commitments”

The Board respect his decision to find a role where he can take more time to meet his family caring responsibilities. Our new strategy ‘Transforming Lives’ is an exciting and ambitious one and we have now begun the search to find a successor to take the strategy forward and have the maximum possible impact for people who are deaf, have tinnitus, and hearing loss.”
Attenti have been engaged to lead the search for Paul’s successor. The search will be led by David Fielding MBE, the Managing Partner.
