MADSEN Astera²Hearing Healthcare Integration for Seamless Workflow.

Schaumburg, IL - July 31, 2013 – GN Otometrics introduces the new MADSEN Astera², a refined audiometer with more than 50 new or enhanced features to support optimal diagnosis and treatment for all professional audiologists.

The MADSEN Astera² combines a familiar design with advanced features: integrated pediatric Visual Reinforcement (VRA), a Pediatric Test Module, an unique and innovative tinnitus testing module and increased flexibility through a streamlined touch screen interface in OTOsuite. Combine it with OAE, tympanometry and probe microphone measures to truly experience the power of integration.

The MADSEN Astera² offers several advanced test modalities within OTOsuite that result in efficient workflow from beginning to end. OTOsuite is a software universe in which hearing professionals diagnostic and fitting tools are integrated. It captures, consolidates, saves, and shares patient measurement data, giving the opportunity to move freely from one work process to another. This is unique to the market since historically proprietary software and hardware are merged into one stand-alone solution, therefore the product hardware ages at the same speed as the software. The OTOsuite software keeps equipment up to date, which means existing customers always have access to the latest software features. In addition since most of the new features are software based, existing Astera owners have access to these new software features continually adding value to your investment.

Doctor with young patient and her fatherThe pediatric solution in the MADSEN Astera² includes an updated Audiometer Control Panel, and a dedicated pediatric test module. The new Audiometer Control Panel (ACP) includes integrated VRA buttons at your fingertips. This allows the clinician to maintain eye contact while reinforcing the child’s response with the wireless animated toy reinforcers. The dedicated Pediatric module combines speech and tone testing in one screen aiding quick transitions. The test modality is also supported by pediatric features like pediatric speech lists, FRESH Noise stimulation, the built-in talk to assistant and much more. All of these features provide professionals with tools to keep the child’s attention while working quickly and accurately.

MADSEN Astera² offers the ability to switch from a classical view to a touch screen friendly control panel called Sunshine™. This control panel was created to make daily routine tasks even easier. It displays access to the most often used settings through large, touch screen friendly icons illustrating transducers, tests and ears. Working with the Sunshine™ control panel is intuitive with the interface matching the modern needs demanded by tablet PC and touch screen use.

While most of the changes made to MADSEN Astera² are based on software development, updates have been made to the hardware of the Astera. New MADSEN Astera² customers will benefit from updated mini XLR connections which now allow for 5 speakers and up to 105 dB HL output. The 5th speaker and increased output is especially useful in a sound-field testing environment, where directionality and high intensity output is important. A smaller power supply unit is also a plus.

MADSEN Astera² will be featured in the Otometrics booth at several upcoming conferences and meetings including: state-wide trade shows, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) annual meeting in September, and AudiologyNOW!, the American Academy of Audiology (AAA)’s annual meeting in 2014.
