Otometrics Announces Comprehensive ENG/VNG Programs With Kamran Barin, Ph.D.

April 27, 2010. Chicago, IL. Otometrics, the leader in innovative solutions for the diagnosis of dizziness, is pleased to again offer professionals a comprehensive, educational program on video- and electronystagmography with renowned balance expert, Kamran Barin, Ph.D. Dr. Barin directs the Balance Disorders Clinic at The Ohio State University Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology and Department of Speech and Hearing Science, at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

The program consists of up to three full days of instruction. A two-day course is offered for audiologists, technicians, physicians and other healthcare professionals who perform and interpret VNG/ENG testing, and provides practical information necessary to make the tests an effective part of the diagnostic process. This course begins at a basic level and proceeds systematically through more challenging topics as each step in the administration of the test is discussed in detail, including instructions to the patient, effect of medications on test results, and identifying and recording of disconjugate eye movements.

In addition, a one-day course follows for audiologists and other healthcare professionals who are familiar with VNG/ENG testing and wish to see a demonstration of actual procedures and interpretation of the test. The course also includes a demonstration of bedside and office vestibular tests, and includes a DVD containing actual test for participants to practice analyzing and interpreting the test on their own. For those who wish to practice performing different tests, there is also an optional hand-on session (1-3 p.m.).

Professionals can register for the 2-day program, the 1-day program or the full 3-day program. The program is being from May 13 - 15, 2010 at the Millenium Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago and again October 7 - 9, 2010 at the Wyndham Chicago.
