Oticon's New Development House Fosters Timely Innovation with State-of-the-Art Design and High-Tech Functionality

Recently awarded the Innovation Cup 2006 as the most innovative Danish company, Oticon enters an exciting new dimension in its history - in a new high-tech headquarters just outside of Copenhagen. The new facility features cutting edge design and functionality intended to inspire idea generation and facilitate the flexible project development processes that are hallmarks of Oticon's award-winning management style. In addition to providing staff with the latest and most advanced technological tools needed to develop breakthrough hearing solutions, the Oticon's new headquarters in Kongebakken is designed to create a working environment that fosters untraditional thinking.

"We want to maintain technological leadership and continue to develop outstanding solutions for people with hearing impairment. Oticon is a strong partner today, and the new house will make us an even stronger partner in the future. It is equally important that we are able to offer an attractive working environment for our staff, thus attracting the best employees of tomorrow," says Niels Jacobsen, President and CEO of Oticon and William Demant Holding.

Design meets functionality

At the new facilities, sound rooms and labs are located side by side with creative environments. Meeting facilities range from informal high-stooled coffee islands and idea lounges to table-less brainstorm bays, designed to support all phases in the development process. Writeable, movable walls are just one way of creating an ideal setting for flexible project work. Every room in the building is unique and has something to offer in the process of developing the hearing aids of tomorrow. And all elements are integrated into the open floor plan with walls of glass to ensure transparency and openness.

High-tech working environment

Oticon's new high-tech building offers the latest in fibernet infrastructure providing the most sophisticated set up for the modern electronic work place. Wireless laptops enable people to work anywhere in the house and the 'SmartWorker' concept has been applied to identify the right IT systems in order to improve transparency and minimise trivial non-value-creating activities. Towards the same goal support functions like IT and administration share the same space as the development teams.
