Oticon Opn Hearing Aids Save Christmas for Santa Claus

Share:

SOMERSET, N.J.—December 11, 2018With elves making toys and holiday music on repeat, Santa Claus’s workshop is a noisy place this time of year. When Santa noticed he wasn’t able to hear the soft voices of children visiting his bustling workshop, he sought a solution to improve his hearing in time for Christmas. Now, thanks to the award-winning Oticon Opn™ hearing aids, Santa can hear and fulfill children’s wishes this holiday season.

To improve his hearing health, Santa (known in the off-season asDavid McCawley) consulted Sandra Harper, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA, of Harper Hearing Services Company in Metro Phoenix, and was fitted with Oticon Opn hearing aids. Powered by Oticon’s exclusive BrainHearing™ technology, Opn delivers an open sound experience that improves Santa’s ability to hear whether kids are naughty or nice and manage multiple speakers in noisy, crowded environments like a shopping mall. At the same time, as the world’s first Internet-connected hearing aid, Opn communicates directly with a wide range of connected devices, like the Bluetooth navigation system in Santa’s sleigh.

“Before being fitted with Opn hearing aids, the combination of children’s laughter, Christmas carols, crackling fires, and other wonderful holiday sounds prevented me from hearing and responding to the girls and boys sharing with me their most precious Christmas wishes,” says Santa. “Now, with Opn, I can clearly and more effortlessly hear what’s on every child’s list and make sure no one is disappointed come Christmas morning.”

Santa also uses Oticon’s ConnectClip, a lightweight intermediary device that acts like a remote microphone to extend the convenience and performance of his Opn hearing aids. Santa gives ConnectClip to one of his elves, who uses it to discreetly report a child’s name and wish list directly to Santa’s hearing aids, further circumventing the challenges associated with soft-spoken or shy children in bustling and noisy environments.

“The holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year, but it’s also one of the noisiest, which can make individuals with hearing loss feel isolated,” says Sheena Oliver, Vice President of Marketing, Oticon. “Oticon Opn hearing aids enable Santa and others with hearing loss to more fully participate in conversations with family and loved ones and ensure they don’t miss out on any of life’s memories.”
