SOMERSET, NJ  November 29  -- Oticon, Inc. introduces enhanced power options and new performance levels to the Oticon Opn™ portfolio to give even more consumers, including those with more severe hearing losses, access to Oticon’s paradigm-shifting open sound experience. New Opn 2 and Opn 3 join Opn 1 in the expanded Oticon Opn family that features three performance levels, all built on the ultra-fast and precise Velox™ platform.  An expanded fitting range up to 105 dB HL means that people with severe-to-profound hearing losses can now experience Opn’s benefits including open access to multiple speakers even in complex and noisy listening environments, rapid noise reduction and speech clarity.

“The expanded Opn family takes our BrainHearing™ technology to the next level to allow more people to benefit from Opn’s unique combination of technologies that work together to expertly manage multiple speech and noise sources,” says Don Schum, PhD, Vice President of Audiology and Professional Relations for Oticon, Inc. “By giving the brain access to all important sounds, Opn reduces listening effort, even in noisy environments, freeing up mental energy so users can recall more.”*

Three Levels of BrainHearing™ Support

The newest BrainHearing™ solutions – Opn 1, Opn 2, Opn 3 – provide outstanding performance in five key areas: open access to all speakers, rapid noise reduction, sound localization, speech clarity and personalized listening experience.  With three performance levels and enhanced power options, the Opn family allows end users to choose the level of BrainHearing™ support that best suits their individual listening needs and personal preferences.

All of the Opn models feature the revolutionary new OpenSound Navigator™ that continually analyzes and balances sounds, removing noise, even between words. This means that Opn users will enjoy significantly reduced listening effort in both simple and complex sound environments.

Unlike traditional directional technology that focuses on one speaker while suppressing all other sounds, Opn’s groundbreaking Multiple Speaker Access Technology (MSAT) opens up the soundscape to embrace multiple speakers. This innovative technology gives Opn users the freedom to focus on the sounds they want to hear and to easily switch focus when they want.

A World of Connectivity

Oticon Opn is the world’s first hearing aid that can connect to the internet.  By downloading the Oticon ON App, end users can control their Opn hearing aids from their cell phones and connect to other internet-enabled devices and services that make everyday life easier. Users create “recipes” using the IFTTT.com service to interact with smart technologies such as smart doorbells that alert them when someone is at the door or to schedule a range of notifications such as low battery alerts, weather reports and calendar appointments.

Opn also offers a wide range of possibilities to connect to communication and entertainment devices and services. Wireless, streamer-free connectivity turns Opn hearing aids into stereo headphones, streaming sound and music from smartphones, TV, laptops and more.

Award-winning Solution Resonates with Consumers

The prestigious 2017 CES Innovation Awards recently honored Oticon Opn for excellence in two categories – Tech for a Better World and Wearable Technologies.  In the highly competitive world of consumer electronics, recognition by CES judges is a sought after honor and one that reflects the strong response of both hearing care professionals and users to Opn’s groundbreaking audiological and connectivity benefits.
