Oticon Medical Names Alan Raffauf Vice President of Marketing

Somerset, NJ February 24 - Oticon Medical, a global medical device company within the William Demant Group, today announced the appointment of Alan Raffauf, MA, as Vice President of Marketing. In this newly created position, Raffauf will be responsible for developing and driving the company's strategic marketing communication plan in the US and broadening awareness of Oticon Medical as a leading provider of bone anchored hearing solutions.

"Alan begins his new role at a critical juncture in the Oticon Medical's development, as we continue to expand penetration of leading US academic institutions and centers of excellence in bone conduction implantation and audiology," said Oticon Medical General Manager Jes Olsen. "With our focus on patient-centered solutions, Oticon Medical is redefining the concept of choice in the bone anchored hearing arena. Alan will be instrumental in the development of comprehensive marketing, brand awareness and communications campaigns that will build new markets and increase patient access to this valuable technology."

Raffauf brings over 10 years of experience in sales and marketing to his new position. Prior to joining Oticon Medical, he served as global product manager at Oticon's Kongebakken headquarters. As a product manager for Oticon, Inc., he was responsible for the successful US launch of the Oticon Delta. An alumnus of the University of Connecticut, Raffauf holds a Master's degree in Audiology from the College of New Jersey and has worked in private and retail clinical settings.

Raffauf, who is based at Oticon Medical's US offices in Somerset, NJ, will report directly to Curt Gorman, US Subsidiary Manager for Oticon Medical. "Alan has experience across all facets of sales and marketing and will be a valuable asset to our growing team," stated Gorman. "His work has been outstanding in educating both customers and patients to the exceptional sound quality, enhanced aesthetics, user friendliness and reliability of the Ponto system."

New Staff Appointments

Karen Mikami, MA, FAAA, has joined Oticon Medical as Clinical Audiologist covering the western region of the United States. She has over 20 years of experience in research, development, education and training of advanced hearing healthcare systems. In previous positions with hearing aid and implantable device companies, Mikami has provided clinical, sales, and marketing support to healthcare professionals. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Hawaii and a Masters in Audiology from the University of Kansas and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

Maureen Winter, RN, is the new Sales and Customer Support Manager for Oticon Medical serving hospitals, surgical centers and clinics in the Midwest region. Winter has over 10 years of experience as a registered nurse working in ENT, Head and Neck in both hospital and clinical settings. She brings considerable expertise in sales and training in medical devices, endoscopic surgical instruments, flexible and rigid scopes and endoscopic video systems. Winter is a graduate of Oakton College, School of Nursing.
