Annual award honors organizations that help to create a better life for children with hearing loss

Somerset, NJ   May 23 -- Oticon, Inc. was honored with a 2022 Angel Award from the Be An Angel Fund, Inc., a Houston-based charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with multiple disabilities or profound deafness by providing adaptive equipment and select services. The annual award recognizes the contributions of people and organizations that are making a positive difference in the lives of children in-need.

“Oticon has supported our profoundly deaf children in Texas with hearing aids for the past 36 years with remarkable results,” said Marti Boone, Executive Director, Be An Angel. “Our partnership with Oticon helps create a world where every child with hearing loss has the opportunity to experience improvements in their personal quality of life, facilitating that child’s ability to grow physically and emotionally to the full extent of their capability. Thank you Oticon!  Your excellent array of hearing aids changes not only the lives of the children we serve, but also gives our community hope for a better future.“

Laura Shiplett, AuD, CCC-A, Director of Pediatric Strategy for Oticon, Inc., accepted the award on behalf of the Oticon team at the April 29 Angel Awards fundraising gala.  “Oticon is proud to partner with the Be An Angel Fund to create a better future for every child with hearing loss,” said Shiplett. “Through partnerships with charitable organizations, like Be An Angel, we aim to provide better hearing and the opportunity for better learning, better relationships and a better life for children and teens who otherwise would not have access to hearing technology.”

Be An Angel Fund was founded In 1986 when a concerned parent discovered the overwhelming requirements of special needs children at T.H. Rogers School in Houston. More than 30 years later, Be An Angel serves thousands of special needs children throughout Texas, primarily in the Greater Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas areas, providing specialized programs, services and equipment.
