Oticon, Inc. Appoints Virginia Ramachandran, Au.D., Ph.D. as Head of Audiology

SOMERSET, NJ  October 4 – Oticon, Inc. today announced that Virginia Ramachandran, Au.D., Ph.D. has been promoted to Head of Audiology. In her new position, Ramachandran will be responsible for leading Oticon’s US audiological vision and strategic direction, supporting Oticon’s continued leadership in Audiology and Technology. She will report directly to Oticon President Gary Rosenblum.

Ramachandran joined Oticon in 2015 as the Education and Training Specialist for Oticon’s Mid-America region. Prior to joining Oticon, she served as a senior staff audiologist and research coordinator/scientist for the Henry Ford Hospital, a nationally recognized teaching hospital. In this role, she had extensive experience serving a diverse patient population in a tertiary care medical setting. She was instrumental in developing an inter-institutional clinical education agreement between the hospital and Wayne State University, establishing the hospital as the clinical education coordinating site for the university’s Au.D. program. A former President of the Michigan Academy of Audiology and member of the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education, Ramachandran is currently the President-Elect of the American Academy of Audiology. She will assume the role of President in 2022.

I am confident that her knowledge-based approach and proven ability to lead and manage in a challenging hearing healthcare environment will enable Oticon to continue to deliver world-class support to our professional partners and their patients.”

Ramachandran is also an adjunct instructor of Audiology at Wayne State University  where she teaches courses in amplification. She has written extensively for leading professional journals and has co-authored three books on topics in audiology.  She has conducted frequent state, national, and international presentations as an invited lecturer. She currently serves on the Audiology Editorial Board of Plural Publishing, Inc. and participates as a reviewer for several academic journals. 

Ramachandran earned an M.S.W., an Au.D. and a Ph.D. from Wayne State University and has studied Instructional Systems Development at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
